How to make a ColdWarm Air Intake

Tools and Material
Piping
silicone reducers
various fittings
something to cut the pipe
MAF adapter (may not apply)
Hose clamps
Access to a welder or someone that can weld (for the ghetto people you can try JB weld but I don’t recommend it)

The first thing you need to get is a pipe to suit you need. It can be gotten from Jegs, summit, or your local speed shop. The piping diameter and legnth and shape is all relavant to you particular car. I used a 3″ turn down that I got from my local speed shop for $17.00

Next you need to figure approximate size and bend of the intake pipe making sure to leave room for the silicone reducers. I did this by holding the pipe over the rubber hose and marking my cut. It doesn’t need to be exact just not to big or small I left about 2″ on both sides and mine fit tight.

My intake was pretty short so that was it for the piping, but if you want to continue on and make it a CAI you might have to make a few cuts to get the shape and bends you want. Take tap and tape the pipes together so you can make sure everything fits and then bring it to an exhaust shop and have him weld it all together.

I had a lot of fittings on my intake so I had to find some small piping and tubing to make those. I used an old power ant for the vacuum line and some small electrical piping I had for the larger emissions fittings. if you don’t have anything laying around just go to home depot and look through plumbing and electrical to find what you need. Using the factory pipe as a reference I marked and drilled the holes and set my fittings in place, then had them welded in by a welder.

after all the welding was done I painted the pipe with high Temp engine paint

Then I installed the pipe and enjoyed my improved throttle responce
